Dr Lingwei William Tao

Dr Lingwei William Tao is a Melbourne based sub-specialty trained ophthalmologist who has expertise in both glaucoma and paediatric ophthalmology.

Dr Tao has additional sub-speciality training in adult glaucoma, paediatric glaucoma as well as general paediatric ophthalmology following his fellowships at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and The Royal Children’s Hospital. Dr Tao’s particular expertise in the management (laser and surgical) of glaucoma and cataract surgery. He is also well experienced in a broad range of general ophthalmology conditions in particular pterygium, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and general paediatric eye conditions. In addition, Dr Tao can perform intravitreal injections and laser for both glaucoma and retinal conditions. 

Dr Tao obtained his medical degree from The University of Melbourne (MBBS and BMedSc) in 2012. He spent his residency years at the Alfred Hospital. Dr Tao has completed his Masters of Medicine at The University of Sydney. Throughout his ophthalmology training based at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Dr Tao has worked across many health networks predominantly at Alfred Health, Royal Children’s Hospital, Austin Health, Barwon Health, Monash Health, and Western Health. Dr Tao has been actively involved in research in glaucoma and macular degeneration where he has published in his area of subspecialty in peer-reviewed journals and presented at multiple international and national conferences.
